Nykka’s Superfood SkinPotion Oil

Hello my beauties ! Today I have nykka’s skin potion oil with me, now this is not sponsored by the brand. It’s just that I am near to finish off this product so I wanted to share my experience. It retail for rs.699 for 30ml last me for about 2 months. There are always discounts, so check the site for latest price. Always buy in discounts as most of the websites will have one or other sale around the year. For this product I think the price went as low as Rs.534.

Coming to the product the packaging is good except for the dropper, it’s a bit tilted, must be a manufacturing defect, might not be the same for all. But still it could have been better. All ingredients are mentioned on pack, I will read out a few to you there’s coconut oil, jojoba oil, rosehip oil, grape seed oil.. and many more oil.. so basically it’s a blend of all the sort oils which are known to be superfoods for healthy skin.

The consistency is very light not so sticky.. it does absorbs into the skin nicely. It has a mild fruity smell which doesn’t bother and is calming. it does not give oily or shiny look. At first it’s obvious you wont see a difference, but after 3-5 days.. yes the skin feels supple, clam, nourished and moisturized, as winter are here it will go very good with it. I usually used it as massage oil at PM but you can use it as moisturizer or makeup base also.

I am a dry skin person with no serious acne issues, it really did well for me. But it will not reduce any acne or dark spots as far as I have experienced. At least not if you use it for a 1 week or so. Maybe in the longer run it may make visible difference for pigmentation. Overall it’s a good oil, a calming therapy for your skin, you can give it a try this winter. But make sure to do a patch test before applying anything to your for the first time.

A Small Note : Please know that skincare is subjective .. and results may differ from person to person, also skincare is not gender specific so everyone out there should take care of your skin, remember to be consistent about it. No mater what product you use. If you are not consistent then you may not see visible difference.

Minimalist 5% Niacinamide Face Serum

Hello beauties! Got another review of one of my fav Products. The Niacinamide Serum and again a well know brand Beminimalist.

First of all, I love the packaging! The bottle has clear instructions of how to use it and what are the ingredients in it.
Secondly, the base of this serum is aloe juice and not water which is excellent for moisturising and calming the skin. It’s a clear thickish liquid with little to no smell. Use 3-4 drops and massage it into the skin. It’s easily absorbed but does gives a little sticky feel.

Niacinamide (Vit B3) is excellent for nourishing the skin and reducing pore size. Hyaluronic acid is good for overall skin health and reducing acne marks. However, one must be careful when introducing strong acids and retinoids into their skin care routine. Always start with a lower potency and do a test patch for a few days to see how your skin reacts to it. Gradually increase the concentration of these as your skin becomes used to it.

I’ve been using it for a month at night and my skin feels fresh and dewy. After using it with Bha serum, as usual I top it up with my plumgoodness face oil. It tents to shed like dry skin when topped with oil, sometimes even without layering with oil.. and I believe that was the Aloe Vera gel layer which is peeling off. I tried to get some info on that via Instagram chat with Be-minimalist but didn’t got any response. But the product doesn’t cause any harm and overall very happy with it!

This serum can be used stand alone for acne prone sensitive skin. But be careful and do patch test before using as it has aloe vera base. And as we know Aloe can be irritating to some skin-type people. It also has 1% Hyaluronic Acid for hydration. Since, it does contains humectant for hydrating your skin please follow it up with a lightweight moisturizer.

AM & PM, after cleansing, apply 2-3 drops. With a gentle circular motion, you can spread it all over your face. Although it is a lightweight formula that quickly sinks in, wait for at least 5 minutes before applying other serums or moisturizers. Pack your cells with a AM & PM, after cleansing, apply 2-3 drops. With a gentle circular motion, you can spread it all over your face. Although it is a lightweight formula that quickly sinks in, wait for at least 5 minutes before applying other serums or moisturizers. Pack your cells with a broad-spectrum sunscreen SPF 30 or above for AM routine.

So, that’s it from me… hope you guys like the post and if you have any doubts, comment them down.

A2 Ghee

After long time of revolution and development the world and modern technology convinced us that ghee is bad for our health. It is the fat which gets stored in our blood and tissues making them fat and bubbler, which in-turn increases the risk of diseases and serious conditions.

But now science and technology claims it’s benefits, the marketing of A2 protein and it’s sources increased rapidly in last few years. Now the same old ghee or clarified butter is much more expensive than it was before and this is not just because of the inflation but also because of these market heads, who are controlling the market. After few years later they may say something else and people would believe them and this game goes no, to set higher competitive standards and increase their profits. And this strategy is same for almost all the products not just to butter/ghee.

The question is till what time we – as consumers will allow such profit maker to play this game. Every time a new product gets in the market- it makes big news not by showing what’s good is there in using it but on what’s bad in using other. How we as consumers where going wrong and buying bad and harmful things, and how this new stuff is saving you from harm. And the same old tactics in a new polished packet goes viral. Therefore, always be careful of what you are buying and why do you need to change from the original. Is that really causing any harm or it’s just firms making fool of you.

Coming to clarified butter/ghee, it has always been an integral part of Indian cuisine and many other day to day aspects of life. The benefits are much known to each and every Indian household, be it cooking, taste, beauty or health – it is used in all of the above. And Desi Ghee derived from Desi/Indian cow was the only source back then to this Golden nectar. It is not only good for health but also an excellent ingredient for healthy, glowing skin.

However, by increasing competition and convincing the consumers that it has been a harmful product, reduces it’s sales and sources – resulting in inflation and higher demand of this product in market today. Now there are also many fake products taking the best of opportunity.

Here I have a brand which is tried and tested by myself and it’s at pretty affordable price. Yugmantra Organic Foods offers good quality of desi ghee, It’s light yellow in colour with mild smell and soft texture. With high heating/ melting point, the butter stay in almost liquid form. I have tested their Shahiwal Cow breed ghee – it’s better than kankereja Cow ghee from other brand, which I will discuss later. It was good in digestion and totally worth a try. Please make sure to order from their own website or contact number. Also keep a close eye on quality as these days I have experienced that after getting satisfied with my 1st order, I placed another but the quality wasn’t good at second purchase and the product arrived might be fake.

For any doubts and details.. comment down or drop a mail.

Minimalism is the Key Part 2

Hello there, Now if you guys are wondering what’s part 2 then, check out Part 1 here.

To give you a short recap, we added the very first 3 steps simple skincare journey, I mentioned there are few ingredients that can be added either to enhance the look and feel of the skin or the solve any particular skin condition/issue.

Now what are these ingredients and in what products we can find them? These are of 2 types: 1st one are common house-hold ingredients like turmeric, lemon, green tea, etc. All are easily available almost all the time, have been used since ages, we just need to do a little effort to get the work done by them. 2nd ones are newly named as “Actives” but most of them are same stuff, packaged and upgraded with technology and few of them are newly researched. We all know journey to beautiful healthy skin starts with healthy diet and we have been incorporating these ingredients in our diet but recent studies helps us understand and upgrade the effect with balanced PH and easy to use application methods.

Actives are of different types and gives different amazing results in targeted conditions. Be it Niacinamide, Retinoids, HA, AHA, BHA, PHA or our favorite Vitamin C, all are know by diet or other means. But Now that we have clear studies showing their individual impact on skin conditions make them reborn in the skincare Industry.

Who should use them? For different skin-type/issue you can use different, all depends on what are the results your are expecting from them. Now if you have acne then Acids like AHA, PHA and BHA works wonders for you. If you want brighter healthy look then Vitamin C is the one you should look for. Retinoids and Peptides are mostly related with anti aging process. Dry skin types can opt for Squalene.

How to incorporate them in routine? Start with 1 Ingredient/Active at a time, even if you wish to try multiple products. Always do a patch test before taking them to face. Start at Night routine so, that if it comes out heavy on skin it won’t bother you in day to day works and then slowly take them to day routines. Always wear sunscreen if you are using them in day time. Slowly increase the intensity, do not apply huge amount in one go, even if the brand suggest to do so. Be consistent and follow up the routine for at-least a month, to get the idea how the product is working on you. Don’t be in a rush to make a decision or judge the product.

As all these ingredients are high in concentration your skin might take time to get adjusted to them. There may be purging, a kind of acnes or rashes/redness at first. Don’t stop the usage if you experience such conditions, it is a common effect of such high concentrates. Check for how many weeks it’s continuing. If it’s there even after 3 weeks or worsens after every week, then stop the usage and get checked by dermatologist.

These Actives are available in multiple products. You can pick them based upon your interest and level. If you are a beginner then always start with mild concentrated products such as facewash and toners. Later you can upgrade to serums and peel offs. Start with using on alternate days and gradually increase. Keep the steps minimal to 3-4. For Morning start with – Cleansing, Serum/toner, Moisturising and Sunscreen. For Night – Cleansing, Serum/toner and Moisturising.

So, That’s it for now. Have a safe and fun skincare beginning. Let me know what you guys feel about actives, would love to hear from you. Share your concerns and doubts if any.

Sepicalm 3% by Be minimalist

Hello beauties..!

Looking for a good moisturizer, well here I have a product that might delight you.

Before moving on, Let’s talk about “Be Minimalist” as brand.. It is recently launched a few months back and at first faced criticism for copying the packaging of  “The Ordinary” which is a foreign based company, which makes similar skincare products with actives. But they eventually gain trust and popularity from customers around India. Now I must say that it is truly doing great, as I am also one of them. Using there products from quite a good time and found them to be pleasing. Their customer service is also nice. They do have options on all media service and their website with loads of info.

Be minimalist Sepicalm

The products includes some potent ingredients and actives but lets keep them for further. For now, I have their basic light moisturizer, which completely matches with my recent blog on minimal skincare.

Sepicalm 3% + Oats moisturizer is a light, hydrating and fragrance free which can be used in both AM and PM routine. It mentions all the ingredients on packaging, doesn’t cause any rashes or acnes, it mentions that it for all skin types which I believe so.

At first I didn’t like it, as I felt some yeast type of smell while applying but it went off after few uses, it’s good soft and creamy in texture comes in a small sturdy tub. However, for dry skin it might feel less moisture for obvious reasons and usually after applying a sunscreen. Now you might say it is because of sunscreen, as some of them contain matte finish formula but here I am using the same sunscreen with other moisturizers and the results are different. The others are not drying but this one is a bit drying on skin. However, it gives light moisture at PM, which is good and I love to top it up with a face oil.

It may vary from person to person so, that is what I felt, I have normal to dry skin type with a bit oily T-zone – you may experience other results too. Overall it is a good soft product which I am positive about. And definitely recommend a try. Coming to ingredients they’re amazing😍. All are safe humectants and some safe preservatives.

So that’s it from me guys.. I would recommend this moisturizer and mostly it will work for all skin types.

PS: please do a patch test before using any new product.

You can buy it here.

Minimalism is the key..

Hello there..

How important do you think a moisturizer is ?

Are you someone who skip toning or who don’t even follow any step to skincare?

Tired of listening and reading all the confusing and multiple steps to healthy skin..

Well now you don’t have to be confused.. I will clarify all your doubts and let you know the very basic and simple steps and also try to explain why these steps are so important.

So, without any further delay lets get started…!

What are these skincare steps which are gaining the hype in the skincare market and every person with a social account is talking about it ? .. making them dramatized and fanfare among the youth.

According to me everything was good and proper, until the evolution of Korean steps to skincare entered India and every skin expert went GAGA over it.. These are 15 – 20 steps with multiple new products and not that simple way of application. The new market exaggerated its benefits to the next level. Double cleansing, Moisturizing, Toning, Serum, Essence, Mask, Sheet mask etc.. etc..

Here I want to say I am not completely against all the steps but it is not essential to every person, every skin or normal skin type or everyone with acne or blackheads. No my beauties you all are with amazing skins and beauty, you don’t need all the products with all the ingredients out there. Your skin is a survivor of all the skin conditions till now.. and I’m sure it will keep doing so.. without all these amazing products.

However, the only thing we should do is to study and listen to our skin what it’s craving for and feed it with good and healthy skin food. And of-course we can take help of science and technology to do that but mostly this process needs some selflove/selfcare.

So, now that we are agreeing to do so… I am going to share few steps that can help you to start your journey to healthy skin and maintain a routine. The very first thing is to be consistent with whatever routine you follow. Have clean, healthy food and liquid intake (note here liquid is not necessarily have to be water.. you can include detox water, juice, herbal teas etc…) yes you heard it right ! the journey starts with your tummy.

Basic Routine :

1. Cleansing

It is nothing but just washing your face daily twice and a pretty normal thing since humans have evolved. Now try to use a simple wash with less or no harsh chemicals. Note: Double cleansing is recommended by many but I would suggest if you are not applying makeup or sunscreen on regular basis then you can simply skip this.

Honey is one of the best natural moisturizers

2. Moisturizing

After cleansing it is the next basic thing we have been doing and we should continue to do so. It restores the moisture of skin and make it supple, also keeps away from drying out. Here the other famous steps include toning, essence and serum. But I wouldn’t suggest it because.. it’s a bit much for an Indian skin tone, and until and unless you are using some actives or treatments you may not need it, still if you wish.. you can try out some simple ones.. Please be careful with any product you put on your skin and do a patch test before applying always.

3. Sunscreen

It is a very essential step and is only required in AM routine. Many studies today have reveled that different rays from sun can burn and may also cause serious skin conditions, and if your thinking that darker skin tones are safe, then you have absolutely misunderstood, the sun rays effect every skin tone the same way. I would highly recommend a sunscreen with at-least an spf of 25 or higher in case you usually stay out in sun.

The PM routine is same, just 1 product less.. you don’t apply sunscreen at night.

And End/..!

That’s it from me.. whatever I share here is my personal point of view and my routine which I follow in day to day life. I do have some other products in my alternate days routine which I will share shortly, it is a different concept regarding skin basic issues which I will share soon.. Till then keep smiling and loving yourself.

I have linked down the products which I use and recommend, please checkout if you wish to buy.

Vaadi Herbals Aloe Vera Toner

Hello Guys ..!

Today I am going to talk about a very affordable and herbal brand’s product “Vaadi herbals Aloe Toner“.

Now whatever I speak here is my point of view and as skincare is subjective, things which work for me might not work for you..

Lets start with the basic concept about toning, it is the second step after cleansing and is usedto balance the PH of the skin which might have imbalanced by the chemicals and removal of natural oils from face, personally I am not much of a fan of toners and can survive without  them, but sometimes it becomes essential. Mostly toners are more with the properties of Face Mists rather than toner I believe.. sometimes these terms can be used interchangeably.

Now coming to the actual product which I come across recently is this ‘Vaadi Aloe Toner‘ with cucumber extract.. it claims to be moisturizing and for acne treatment, all ingredients are mention on the product. However, there is light fragrance and the color is green.. but ingredients doesn’t mention about adding them, which is a down side of the product. It doesn’t cause any side effects and did worked good as a face mist. It’s refreshing and relaxes, cool downs and clam the skin and eventually forms a decent step after cleansing and can be used whenever skin feels tiredness, dullness and needs a break.

This toner really does gives a fresh feel and hydrates well .. note that my skin is dry and I use acidic serum after toning. If you are not following heavy steps in your skincare and have normal skin type then you can skip this product.

However, if you are of oil skin type then this toner would be great step as it contains all cooling and oil control elements in there.. might also help with acne..

That’s it for this product.. take care and happy toning !
